History: This sword was acquired directly from the Western
Reserve Historical Society (Museum in Cleveland OH) in a private
sale which included many rare Sleepy Hollow items. The sword was
displayed as part of an exhibition dedicated to American film at the
museum. The museum originally acquired the sword from the Prop
Store of London in 2001, which purchased most items sold after
filming concluded from the original prop master. The museum
owned the piece until it was purchased by someone who had the
entire collection directly from them in January 2008. Now I have it in
my collection as one of my centerpieces. This item has a rich and
interesting history going back and forth from the U.S. to London and
back. Details: The sword is made of fiberglass and has tremendous
detail. The original mold is now in the hands of Albinion Armory who
makes real functional replicas. This sword has every little subtle
detail that the film closeup has. The stunt swords were made out of
rubber though so it wasnt screen used. As far as I can tell, besides
the teeth, its a perfect match! The snake head is amazing and has
two ruby-colored gems for eyes. One of the fangs is missing and I
was told informed that the museum said that this item was shipped
to the museum from the Prop Store in this condition. Although
rather light, the sword does have some weight to it. It is
approximately 43" high. The sword displays incredibly-well and has
been well taken care of by the museum and since I purchased it. Im
going to frame it in the same manner propstore framed thiers.
Although this item was not used in filming the movie, it is an exact
replica made of fiberglass. This item was originally purchased for
$1000 seven years ago. Its documentation includes paper items
from the Western Reserve Historical Soceity detailing the purchase
from the Prop Store of London. If you have any questions, just
shoot me an email, enjoy!! Eric - The Prop Man
